BASE LATAM started a hackathon for ecosystem builders in which the main focus was to use their technology in a real solution.

At that time, in October 2024, Chileans had a very recent and latent situation: the government is strongly limiting the number of transactions that citizens and their businesses can make. At the same time, they drastically increase taxes on these transactions. Causing Chileans to get by not using the banking system to avoid making movements.

The solution was clear: convert the Chilean peso into a digital token so that, using the BASE network on the blockchain, Chileans can use their local currency without worrying about restrictions or violations of their privacy. Giving freedom to any entrepreneur or ordinary citizen to move their money digitally.

Thus, the Smart Contract development team created the CLPD, a token that will always be worth one Chilean peso and can be exchanged infinitely on our platform.

We built a simple platform, adhering to the hackathon deadline. The user can deposit CLP and convert it into CLPD, withdraw their digital pesos to their bank account, invest in CLPD liquidity, and convert USDC into CLPD.

We were part of the winners of this hackathon and, with the funds received, we will continue to improve the product to grow in users in Chile.
