A blockchain advertising platform that evolved into a social media app, and opened a lot of new possibilities within Social-Fi.
Zurf, formerly “Wav3s”, was our most experimental crypto project.
As “Wav3s”, it started as an advertising solution pot Lens Protocol's users, but with a simple premise: your promotion budget is split to all users engaging with your content. This way, everyone earn something.
We took the product in this start point, in order to improve the UI, User Experience and Branding. Soon the product looked pretty different. Looking for a futurist style inspired in Sci-fi holographic interfaces.
Although, this serious and dark design was about to change for the next step: compete for the rest of social apps in the Lens Protocol ecosystem. Because there are many of them, and users of the protocol are dispersed between them. So we needed to catch the attention. Be vibrant, friendly, and fun. We need to be the best party.
As part of a decentralized ecosystem, there are not only social features like reactions, sharing, etc. There are a lot of transactional featured related to crypto users such as minting (“save” a post to your wallet, paying for it or for free), tipping (send money to a user quickly), rewards (receive currencies from activities like engage), and so on.
And again, the goal was to make all those crypto interaction fun.
Zurf turned into a vertical video format feed in which you can do any crypto interaction available in that post. Before Fan Tokens were created from the competition, Farcaster, Zurf was testing “Creator Coins” with the same functionality: you can buy a currency of your favourite creators in order to support them, growing its value in the “market”.
Long story short, Zurf was a real monster, applying a large variety of Social-Fi features so you don't have to use any other app. And with this experience, our next social app (called VIBRA) was possible. The community we formed allowed us even to launch it in an IRL event at Santiago de Chile.
